The AICTE has given permission to establish a residential Women's Polytechnic at Aizawl ( The State's Capital) in 1991. However, it could not be established due to various Technical reasons. Finally, the Women Polytechnic was established on 7th September, 1998 in a rented house in the centre of Aizawl town by paying Rs. 25,000 per month as house rent.
The Institute is now running 2 (two) course namely:- (1) Modern Office Practice with 20 students intake (2) Electronics and Telecommunication with 20 students intake. The Institute being established only in 1998 the fourth semester is started from the month of February 2000.
AICTE has also given permission to introduce 2 (two) more Course Viz:- (1) Garment Technology and (2) Beauty Culture and Cosmetology from the Academic Session of 1999-2000.
The Institute has its permanent site at Durtlang which is 5kms from Aizawl, the capital of Mizoram. During the 9th Five Year Plan it is proposed to introduce 2 (two) more additionmal courses such as Interior Decoration and Hotel Management.
